Spurs vs. Grizzlies, NBA Playoffs 2013: Memphis offense stalls in overtime loss

Quincy Pondexter scored 15 points, but the rest of the Memphis Grizzlies' bench was MIA as they fell in 3-0 series hole, falling to the San Antonio Spurs in overtime.

The Memphis Grizzlies looked poised to retake some momentum in the Western Conference Finals. They had the Spurs on their heels, forcing turnover after turnover on their way to 29 first quarter points. Then the offense stalled in the second quarter, as it has all series and the Grizzlies now find themselves in an unfamiliar 3-0 hole.
Memphis entered the second quarter with a 16 point cushion. Then they scored just 15 points in the second quarter as the Spurs climbed back in to the game to trail by just four at halftime. After the game, head coach Lionel Hollins said his team just couldn't hang on to the momentum they picked up in the first quarter.
"We came out with great energy. We got steals," Hollins said. "We just couldn't sustain it."
The bench production continues to be a problem for the Grizzlies. Quincy Pondexter continued his excellent series, scoring 15 points, including three three-pointers. The rest of the bench managed just nine points, seven fromJerryd Bayless and two from Darrell Arthur.
The Grizzlies now have less than 48 hours to regroup and find the production they got in the second half of Game 2, when the scored 55 points, just two points more than they scored in quarters two, three and four Saturday night.
