"I leave with my work unfinished"

BELIEVES HE LEAVES A DEFINED, MATURE AND COMPETITIVE TEAM

He believes he has left the club in good stead: "I'm leaving with my work unfinished. It's a shame because we could have made this team European champions."

Mourinho is quite proud of the project that he is leaving behind, the fruit of his three years in charge of 'Los Blancos', and now leaves in the hands of his successor. According to those that have spoken to him, he leaves the club somewhat nostalgic, and already sad about what could have been.
He believes he has left the club in good stead: "I´m leaving with my work unfinished. It's a shame because we could have made this team European champions." He came to found a new project, and he leaves when it has reached its maturity. According to "The Special One", he has done his all to increase the competitive level of some of the players, and which now have their best years to give.
Mourinho thinks that he is leaving a winning team, defined and competitive. He looks back on the hardest moments, for example when they lost 5-0 to Barcelona in the Camp Nou, and how a year later the team was above Barça and was able to beat them away in a vital Liga game, and again in a Copa del Rey semi-final. A project which has steadily grown over the years, and in which the Portuguese is proud of having instilled confidence in previously insecure players.
Mourinho is upset. He´s not happy that the fans might think that he's leaving because the pressure is too much for him, when actually he assures - as he has told Florentino - that the main reason for his leaving is mistreatment by the media.
